Richard is an experienced Commercial Barrister, developing his advocacy and cross-examination skills in the criminal Courts, Richard quickly progressed into other areas of specialisms.
Formerly a member of mainstream chambers in Manchester, Richard started Elysium Law in 2011. He had been instructed to act for clients in the United Arab Emirates in relation to a number of diverse, commercial matters that involved complex, cross-border, jurisdictional disputes. This needed not only legal but strategic input when discussing his Client’s needs with the authorities in Dubai.
Following his success and in continuance of the service of his clients, Richard formed Elysium as a concept and resigned from chambers to pursue the idea to fruition.
That concept took shape and has grown into the firm it is. Dedicated to his clients, with a love for his work, Richard has driven Elysium from strength to strength and the firm continues to grow.

He also offers representation in disputes with HMRC appearing at the FTT and in the Crown Court defending a FCA prosecution. Elysium’s tax offering is extensive, and we work closely with both Chartered tax professionals and Tax Counsel to deal with tax issues which have arisen today and to plan for the needs of the Client.
