About
Lucas has been a paralegal at SMQ Legal Services since January 2021 following a successful work experience placement with the firm whilst studying at university. He attained a First-Class Honours Degree in Law LLB from the University of Reading, where he achieved the RED Award and won the School of Law Pro Bono Prize 2020. Lucas is a former panellist and advocate at Thames Valley Police Community Court, where he won the High Sheriffs’ Association National Crimebeat Award 2020.
Lucas currently handles criminal cases pending their first appearances in court and cases thereafter committed to the Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court for sentencing. He also has experience in personal injury and clinical negligence claims, family law, prison law and claims involving a human rights element.
Lucas's top tip is: Please remember do not make any statements or admissions to police officers, law enforcement, or prosecution without consulting a lawyer.
You are entitled to speak to your lawyer, once you tell them you want to speak to a lawyer they must stop questioning you - that is the law.
Lucas and his team are legal representatives who attend the police station at all hours of the day and night to assist clients in custody. It is a common mistake that requesting legal advice can ‘hold up’ or delay the process and extend the amount of time that someone can expect to remain in detention. In fact, we are generally able to attend police station within 15-20 minutes after being notified that an interview will take place depending on the location.
He can assist in the following areas:
-Murder and violent crimes
-Serious Fraud & IT Crime
-Sex offences
-Human trafficking
-Importation
-Motoring offences
-Youth Crime
-Public Order Offences
-Dangerous Dogs
-Terrorism Law
-Environmental Law
-Crime connected with Sport
Our experienced Defence Team is available to assist at every stage of a criminal matter and is on hand 24/7 to provide independent legal advice and assistance where required, whether it be at the police station or at Court, whether the client is in custody or on bail.
